Island Life, Naturally

Barefoot Manta is designed for travellers looking for a less commercial island experience, where days revolve around the beach, reef and rhythms of Fijian life. Beachfront bures sit close to the water, coral gardens can be explored directly from shore and the resort’s smaller scale creates a relaxed, personal atmosphere.

Three Beaches, One Island Escape

Barefoot Manta is surrounded by three white-sand beaches, providing opportunities for swimming across changing tides and easy access to the surrounding tropical waters.

Snorkelling is one of the resort’s defining experiences, with coral gardens and abundant marine life accessible directly from the beach.

Seasonal Manta Ray Encounters

Between approximately May and October, manta rays visit the nutrient-rich channel between Drawaqa and neighbouring Naviti Island.

The feeding area is only a short boat ride from the resort, with guided manta snorkelling experiences available following a briefing at the Marine Science Centre. As the mantas are wild animals, sightings can never be guaranteed, but the surrounding reef offers rewarding snorkelling in its own right.

Marine Conservation at Heart

Barefoot Manta is surrounded by a marine sanctuary established in partnership with Indigenous Fijian landowners.

The resort operates an ongoing conservation programme focused on manta rays, coral restoration and the wider marine environment. Guests can visit the dedicated Marine Conservation Centre and learn directly from the resort’s marine team through scheduled presentations and activities.
